Fuel Efficient Cars

Air and Breathing

http://www.nutramed.com/environment/cars.htm
This website helped me answer my four essential questions. The first thing this website helped me figure out what car pollution actually was. I needed to know what it was before i researched my question. The other thing this website helped my figure out was why car pollution was so bad for the earth. That is how this website helped me.

Pollution Prevention Checklist

http://www.mde.state.md.us/BusinessInfoCenter/PollutionPrevention/information/homechecklist.asp
This website was a very helpful when i was answering my questions. This website actually told me what people could do to help prevent car pollution. It also showed me how people could prevent car pollution. That was what my actual question was so it really helped. That is how this website helped me answer mt question.

Earth Day Project Essential Questions

# 1.People can do may things to help not pollute the earth.

#2 I know that not everybody has enough money to but a new fuel efficient car. Even if you cant buy one you can try to cut back on using your car which would help because the less exhaust in the air the better. As an average citizen trying to help save the earth you can try to car pull as much as possible or ride the bus as much as you can or when you have to rent a car try to get a fuel efficient one. People who have enough money can switch to a hybrid car. Simply all you have to do is change so of your bad driving habits. People can also get a car that uses bio fuel The last thing you could do to help try cut down on air pollution is ride you bike as much as you possibly can. That is what people could do to help try to stop or cut down air pollution.

#3 In the worst case scenario if nobody changed there bad driving habits the air could soon become toxic for humans and animals to breath. If this happens you could get really sick and in the worst case even die. That is why you should try to cut back your bad driving habits as much as possible.

#4 In the best case scenario if everybody stopped there bad driving habits they could reduce the air pollution very much. If this happens the air would be much cleaner and people would be much safer. That is why people so try to cut back on bad driving habits as much as possible.

Penny Lab

Procedure: First put a penny on a paper towel then get an eyedropper and fill it up. Then put as many drops of water on the penny until the penny overflows.

Prediction: I predicted that it would take 15 drops of water until the penny overflowed.

Outcome: The penny held 23 drops of water and then it overflowed.

Explanation of accountable water properties: This happen because the penny was not able to hold anymore water because the edges were to small.

Roaring 40's

Picture of the Roaring 40's

The place I am visiting is the Roaring 40's. The Roaring 40's is a cool and scary place. It is located between the latitude of 40 degrees south and 50 degrees south. We are here to study the extremely strong wind causing large waves before we go sailing on them. Here we have to make it all the way back to the shore if we need to go back since there are no large pieces of land in the Roaring40's. When here i realized that the strong winds hits the water causing extremely large waves. The large waves can damage plants and animals as well as humans. Here people have tried to surf and they were not successful because the waves would knock them over. Sailors also have sailed the roaring 40's. Not many people like going here because of the huge waves. I think I am going to change my mind about sailing the Roaring 40's. That is what learned at the Roaring 40's.

Earthquakes

1.Where do most of the earthquakes tend to happen? 1A Most earthquakes happen at the pacific plate boundary.

2.Why do you think that is? I think that's because there has to be something for them to rub against and that's where the plates come in.

3.What is this area called? This area is called the ring of fire.

4.Where is the earthquake closest to Manitou Springs? What are the details of this earthquake? Would people be able to feel this earthquake? About how much more ground shaking would occur for this magnitude earthquake compared to a magnitude 1 earthquake? About how much greater is the energy released with this earthquake compared to the energy of a magnitude 1 earthquake? The closest earthquake to Manitou Springs was in Denver Colorado. It was 3.1 miles deep and the magnitude of it was 3.2. I don't think people in Manitou could feel it because it was to far away and they are not normally felt. The ground would have to shake about 1024 times stronger for a 1 on the Richter scale to be considered a 3 on the Richter Scale. The energy released is going to be about 32,768 times more from a 1 on the Richter scale to a 3 on the Richter scale

5.Choose one earthquake that has happened in the last seven days. You will be researching that earthquake. Tell me all about it. Are earthquakes common in this area? Include at least one picture, preferably of the earthquake, but if you can’t find one include one of the area. THe earthquake i chose was in Cabo San Lucas. Earthquake are pretty common in Cabo San Lucas. This earthquake was a 6.3 on the Richter scale.

6. Somethings you sould do for saftey in an earthquake is you should not go outside and you should duck and cover.

Weather Fronts

There are four different kinds of fronts. Cold fronts are one of them. When there is a cold front the cold air goes under the warm air causing the warm air to rise. That makes it colder instead of warmer. Another kind of front is a warm front. What happens when there is a warm front is the warm air pushes the cold air out of the way causing the warm air to take its place and makes it warmer. Another kind of front is a stationary front. During a stationary front warm air and cold air mix causing thunder storms. The last type of front is a occluded front. When there is an occluded front there is a warm air mass caught between two cold air masses. The weather near the ground becomes cooler and water vapors condense and the weather may become cloudy rainy or snowy. Those are the four kinds of weather fronts.
